Typhoon Rai (local name Odette) landed in the Philippines on 16 December 2021. It brought torrential rains, violent winds, landslides, and storm surges in the provinces of Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, including five provinces of Visayas, and in the island of Palawan before it exited the Philippine area of responsibility on 17 December 2021.

Based from the report of the Disaster Response Operation Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC), the estimated total affected population in the Caraga Region and Southern Leyte has reached more than 500,000 families and displaced approximately 40,000 individuals.

The PIFPO National Board of Trustees, PIFPO Quezon City Chapter, PIFPO Tacloban Chapter and with the collaboration of different organizations and private corporations, immediately took part in providing relief goods to the affected families.
